The OC Transpo (2012)
This satirical illustration takes aim at the chaotic, surreal experience of public transit life in Ottawa. Originally created in 2012, the piece exaggerates the “characters” of daily commutes — from overworked business types to eccentric riders and grizzled drivers — through a grotesque, almost zine-like lens. The result is a gritty, tongue-in-cheek snapshot of the strange theater that unfolds on city buses.
While the style leans into caricature and dark humor, its purpose was never to target individuals, but rather to capture the absurdity and atmosphere of public transportation as a cultural microcosm. As an early portfolio piece, it represents my experimentation with social satire, surrealism, and narrative-driven illustration.
